Hoarding vs. Stockpiling

Many people say couponers are Hoarders. I say 'HOGWASH'! I've seen the show Hoarders and I am certainly not living in a house filled with garbage and dead cats.
(NOT my house)
My house is clean at all times and 100% organized. I am, however, a stockpiler. If something is on an amazing sale or free, why wouldn't I get as many as I can? It never hurts to have a back stock of commonly used items.

Under my bathroom sink you will find a large array of deodorant, body wash, shaving gel, mouthwash....
(My house)

Besides, who can predict a national disaster like Target closing?? You wouldn't expect me to shop at Walmart would you? Ugh, the thought of it sends shivers down my spine. So I need to be prepared with multiples of items I need...Just...In...Case.

Rib Fest 2013

This weekend we headed down to St. Pete for Rib Fest where we partook in at least 4,000 calories in food and drink. Needless to say it was a great time.

Rule #1: Pack your own booze. Drinks out there can get expensive, and personally I would rather spend my money on purses or shoes...you know, necessities.

Rule #2: Don't fall asleep in public places. Or if you do, expect to wake up next to a strange man in a horse head.
...which ties into Rule #3: Bring a purse big enough to store your husband's horse head.
Rule #4: When  you check into a hotel, pay better attention to what room number they give you at the front desk. Luckily we made it out alive this time...

Did I Just Say That?

I have a confession.

I watch a lot of Reality TV. Like, a whole lot.

I work from home, and I enjoy having background noise on, and it's so easy to just have on reality tv because you don't have to pay attention to any plot lines or character development.

Now that I have validated my addiction, let me tell you why I am so openly admitting to such a vice.

Reality TV has caused me to use words I am ashamed to say I even know what they mean. Not in the actual definition of the word sense, but as dumbed down slang.

For instance, because of watching Bad Girls Club, I have, in real life, called someone 'rachet'. Sadly I was not referring to her stopping by Home Depot to pick up a tool...

Girl One - "She tried picking a fight with everyone there"
Girl Two - "Of course she did, she's rachet"

Another usage of my new found vocabulary is "boo". I could have picked this one up from a myriad of shows, and my main use of it is to piss my husband off. He hates when I call him my 'boo' and that just makes the word ever so alluring to me.

I know now that I don't go out to have fun, I go out to "turn up". What exactly am I turning up? I'm not sure...but if I am going to have fun, I need to turn up. Society says so.

Most importantly, from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills I have realized that champagne is really called 'champs' and I need my husband to build me a 3,000 square foot closet (yes, that would be the size of my entire house) so that everyone else is 'jelly' (jealous) of me.

Man Hands

Did you see that episode of Seinfeld where Jerry goes on a date with a girl who has man hands?
Nor have I. I remember people talking about it though when that show was still on. Anyways, that's what I'm dealing with since I have started Crossfit. I have a mean case of Man Hands.

Don't believe me?
Do you see those blisters?! Those are certainly not the hands of a dainty young lady. Sometimes I wonder if my husband feels like he is in prison when rub my hands on him.  The pull up bar is brutal....then they make you hang from it like a third grader on the monkey bars...but your body is no longer that of a third grader and your poor little palms are screaming in pain from the belly full of chicken fingers and beer they now have to hold up.

My trainers swear to me that every movement we do has an everyday practical use, but short of fighting off a zombie apocalypse I just can't see how. If we are really being honest here though, that is my secret motivation to Crossfit. One day I will probably need to fight off zombies just long enough to make it back home to pick out my forever outfit. (Your forever outfit is the clothes that you will forever roam the Earth in once you are bitten and become a zombie).

Shout out to Rebirth Crossfit - stopping zombies one burpee at a time.

Couponing 101

Are you new to the coupon world? Or maybe just on the outskirt of it looking in trying to determine if you want to dip your toes in this pool of crazy? Let me help you out by shoving you into the deep end.

The very first thing you will want to do is setup a separate email address for couponing. You can setup an account through Gmail for free. The reason you want to do this is because online coupons require you to give them your email address...and who really wants to sort through a ton of extra spam everyday in their regular email address? I've had enough of learning how to make my erection last longer and offers to pay the taxes on someone's Nigerian bank account for a return of a million dollars.

Avoid the common mistakes of first time couponers:

-Just because you have a coupon, it does NOT mean you have to use it. Match your coupons up with promotions or sales to utilize your maximum savings potential. A coupon used on a full price item is like a fart in the wind.

-Concentrate on one or two stores. Many first time couponers will get wrapped up in all the different savings they could have in all the different stores, but by the time you run around to Winn Dixie, Publix, CVS, Walgreens, and Target your day is wasted and you've spent more time than the savings is worth. I like to focus on Publix, Target, and CVS.

-One Sunday paper is NOT enough. You will want to get a minimum of 2 Sunday papers (I get 4) You can often find Groupons or Living Socials where they have deals for a 52-week subscription to the Sunday edition. This is your time to stock up on your paper delivery! The reason you want multiples of coupons is for Buy One Get One promotions where you will be able to use two.

-For Online Coupons, only print the ones you will use! I like to wait until I need them for printing online coupons in order to save ink and paper, however sometimes the coupons reach a print limit, so if I see a coupon I know I will definitely use, I will print it right away. Great sites to get printable coupons:

-Get ORGANIZED! Before you head to the store make sure you plan your list and the quantities of each item you are going to buy!

-Get to know your store policies. Most stores will accept 2 coupons per item. One Manufacturer coupon and one store coupon. You can easily identify a store coupon for Publix by the LU # on the bottom right. Publix will also accept competitor coupons for the store coupons. This varies by location but will often include Sweetbay, Winn Dixie, and Target.

Example of Multiple Coupon Use:

Publix has Dial Soap on BOGO at $4.50 each
You use (2) manufacturer coupons at $1.00 off one
You use (2) store coupons at $1.00 off one
Leaving your out of pocket cost as $0.50 for two bottles of Dial Soap!
